My name is Karmena Bell-Holland I am single/divorced mom 56 who has raised 9
children ages Shanette Smith age 36, Valesca Bell-Thompson age 34, Brittany Bell age 33,
Shayla Bell age 28, Marvin Bell Jr age 27, Darnell Bell age 25, Tatiana Bell age 22, Kimani Bell
age 21 and the baby of the family Omari Bell age 17 who graduated from High school
on06/01/2023 headed to Dillard University in 08/10/2023. I also am a proud grandmother of 6
beautiful grandkids who I love dearly. In 2004 I ended my marriage after 16 years and took on
the task of raising my children on my own with no assistance while obtaining my master’s
degree in 2008 and working 3 jobs. One job with San Joaquin County Probation for 16 years and
The Target Store for 19 years both which I left to work for myself. My third job I drive for 2
different rideshare companies and I recently obtained my Life Insurance License and now an
agent with Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage as an independent contractor. Lincoln Heritage
Funeral Advantage has been in business since 1963 has over 8 billion policies in force and over a
million policyholders the company is A+ with BBB we are the leading final expense company
and seek to provide families comfort during their time of loss.
I am also the Owner/Manager of Shayteemuzic Group LLC. My entertainment company I
started in May of 2020 after learning about my very talented daughter Shayla Tiana Bell. She is a
28-year-old solo trumpet player and the fourth oldest of my nine children. Shayla has performed
for the Mayor of Stockton, various politicians, in the Stockton 2012 and 2013 Juneteenth
festival, the 2014 -2015 and 2018 Juneteenth celebration in Sacramento, Ca. 2014 Juneteenth in
Richmond and Antioch, Ca and 2016 Juneteenth Festival in Berkeley. In February of 2014 and
2015 Shayla has auditioned for America's Got Talent and featured on their audition website. In
2014 Shayla was the Stockton Apollo Night Winner and performed in the 4th annual 2015 R&B
festival in Sacramento California on September 5th. On September 27, 2014, September 26,
2015, and on April 1, 2017, Shayla auditioned for amateur night at the Apollo in New York,
however she was not accepted for the show yet and our family continues to pray she will get the
opportunity to perform there one day.
Shayla has also performed in Richmond’s talent show in 2014, 2015 and 2016. In the
summer of 2015, Shayla opened for the S.O.S band, Color me Badd, and the group Malo during
a car show held in Stockton California. Shayla has performed with Pete Escovedo the father of
the world’s greatest female drummers Sheila E, Juan Escovedo and Peter Michael at the 2016
San Jose Juneteenth. On July 15, 2016, Shayla performed live on the Sherry Gordy show in Las
Vegas. The daughter of Motown’s Barry Gordy. On July 22, 2017, Shayla performed in the
Oakland Black Expo competition and on September 30, 2017, Shayla performed for the Black
Music Association as the new “Rising Star” in Sacramento Ca and has received a BMA award
for most inspirational artist. Shayla has also performed in the 2017 San Joaquin County fair
talent competition and won first place. Shayla opened for Maxine Jones, former singer of the
R&B EnVogue in 2018 and have met several artists throughout my years of performing. The list
is ongoing. Shayla has performed on the stage with Jamaica Funk artist Tom Brown and opened
for Skip Martin and The Dazz Band.
Shayla performed in the San Joaquin Co. Asparagus festival in 2017 and 2018, and the
2017 Tamale Festival. Shayla performed in Black family Day at Davis State University in 2017
and Stockton’s Black family in 2016. In 2018 Shayla performed in the Alameda County Fair and
the State Fair in Sacramento Ca. Shayla performed for the “Next Big Stars” in Sacramento Ca
and opened for A Tribute to the Ladies of Soul on July 21, 2018. In October of 2018 she won
“Top Performer of the Year” from the Community of Sacramento Ca. Shayla’s next project will
be hopefully performing at the Monterey Jazz Festival, New Orleans jazz festival and
auditioning for the BET Awards in the future. Shayla also opened a concert featuring R&B
singer Freddie Jackson and R&B group Surface on June 5 th , 2021, and released Shayla’s first

On January 17 th 2022 she opened the Martin Luther King parade in Las Vegas Nevada in front of
the Governor and Attorney General of Nevada which was an amazing opportunity. In April of
2022 she opened for the Womack Sister at Yoshi’s in Oakland Ca.
Since the age of 10 Shayla has displayed a love for music for the last 16 years plus.
Shayla’s repertoire consists of old school R & B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, classical, Latin jazz music,
and gospel. Shayla plays the trumpet and trombone by ear and read music. She recorded her first
CD “From My Heart” under Ron Moton productions one of the members of the R&B group
Confunksun and released on July 25, 2016, is currently on the market and released her new
single “Always Here for You” on 04/29/2022. She enjoys gospel music; has played for her
previous church choir the Progressive Community Church, Tri-Valley Community Choir and her
current Emmanuel Baptist Church all in Stockton California.
When Shayla was 3 years old doctors told me, she would not be able to learn anything
due to a learning handicap that has plagued her life. Nevertheless, look at the wonderful gift God
has blessed her with the ability to play the trumpet, trombone and the baritone. Attached is a
