Local Radio Host Speaks Out After Discriminatory Treatment at Burger King Drive-Thru* *Reno, NV
– On Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:18 AM, Bakita J., a Radio Host for Faces of Success Radio, experienced a troubling incident at the Burger King drive-thru located at 18151 Avenue 24 in Chowchilla, California (Store #28543). While en route to the Fools and Love concert in Los Angeles, Bakita sought to purchase a small meal due to her diabetic needs but was met with what she describes as unprofessional and racially biased treatment from the drive-thru staff. During her attempt to place an order, Bakita encountered rudeness and disrespect from an employee named Natalie, who reportedly yelled for her to go elsewhere for her food.
Despite Bakita's clear request for assistance, she felt dismissed and humiliated. In response, she activated her camera to document the incident and entered the restaurant seeking a manager. However, employees falsely claimed the manager was unavailable, even as she was present in the back of the store. As Bakita respectfully requested assistance multiple times, Natalie continued to display rudeness and racism, treating Bakita as if she were invisible. This behavior was captured on video, highlighting the unprofessional conduct of the staff. In a moment of frustration, Bakita stated her intention to report the incident to the local police, subsequently calling 911. Officer J. Rogers responded to her call and, while respectful, informed Bakita that she had to leave the premises at the request of the manager, and officer J. Roger’s also stated he did not condone the staff's behavior, or how the situation was handled by the Burger King staff, and politely directed Bakita in a direction for a better customer service experience. "I was embarrassed and disheartened," Bakita stated. "I was ignored while other patrons of different races received immediate assistance." Following this distressing experience, Bakita has decided to report the incident to the corporate office and local authorities, asserting, "This type of behavior is unacceptable and should not happen to anyone, regardless of their background." As a dedicated advocate for community issues, Bakita is committed to raising awareness about discrimination and advocating for better customer service standards within the Burger King franchise. She encourages consumers to speak up against unfair treatment and hold businesses accountable for their actions. Bakita plans to share her story on her radio platform to highlight the urgent need for change in service environments.
