This year’s MTV Video Music Awards celebrated artistry on both sides of the camera. Taylor Swift received the new Artist Director Honors and won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia” and Best Direction for “Opalite.” Madonna was named Artist of the Year and collected seven awards in total, adding a major career moment to her return to the VMA stage after 23 years.
