Jazz On Ice
Weekend, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM
Tone “Doc” Hardy has music and radio broadcasting in his blood. His father, Hal Hardy, was DJ Soul on Ice in the 1970s and was a pioneer in Connecticut for black radio personalities. Tone used to help his Dad DJ weddings and events in CT and NY in the 1970s and was a DJ himself from 1984 into the 1990s. An electrician by trade and a public speaker and thought leader by vocation, Tone was well known in the Washington, DC area as a public speaker and Minister. Always a lover of jazz, Tone launched the Jazz radio show, “Jazz On Ice – The Sunday Brunch”, in January of 2017 on WNLK 1350AM in his hometown of Norwalk, CT, the very same station his father worked at 40 years earlier. He partnered with his friend DJ Juan Coon on a crusade to preserve Jazz music, or as his father says, “put Jazz on Ice.” “Music is medicine” he closes each show, “and I am THE DOCTOR.” Together, they work to preserve Bebop to Hip Hop.
